About Harmon Electric

Harmon Electric Association, Inc. is a member-owned electric cooperative with headquarters in Hollis, OK. Each day we bring the power of electric energy to farm, residential, commercial and industrial accounts in Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas.

Using power purchased from Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), we provide electricity to over 3,000 meters throughout portions of Harmon, Greer, Jackson, Kiowa & Beckham counties in Oklahoma and Hardeman & Childress counties in Texas.

Touchstone Energy
Harmon Electric is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative. Touchstone Energy is a national alliance of consumer-owned electric and energy utilities providing superior service at affordable rates to all customers, large and small. More than 560 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives across the nation are local, active members of their communities and are committed to serving their 15 million commercial, industrial and residential customers with integrity, accountability, innovation and community involvement.

Our History

The articles of Incorporation for Harmon Electric Cooperative were filed December 12, 1938. On September 11, 1939, the name of the cooperative was changed to Harmon Electric Association, Inc. The first Board of Trustees consisted of T. N. Crow, Hollis; C. A. Pierce, Hollis; G. D. Thomason, Eldorado; Shellie Moore, Hollis; C. R. Bennett, Hollis; J. T. Hurst, Mangum; H. R. Bartlett, Hollis; H. T. Branagan, Hollis; and B. J. Bassel, McQueen. Henry Templeton was the first manager of Harmon Electric. The first power was purchased from the City of Mangum.
Harmon Electric Structure and Trustees

All cooperative members have equal voting rights and have the opportunity to vote at Harmon Electric's annual meetings. Seven trustees are elected by members to represent their districts on Harmon Electric's board. Each trustee serves a three-year term.

The Co-op Advantage
1. Harmon Electric is a voluntary organization open to all persons able to use our services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership.
2. Harmon Electric is a democratic organization controlled by our members who participate in setting policies and making decisions. Each member has equal voting rights and has the opportunity to vote in any matter that may come before the Annual Meeting.
3. Members contribute to and control the capital of Harmon Electric.
4. Harmon Electric is an autonomous, self-help organization controlled by our members.
5. Harmon Electric provides education and training for our members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of our cooperative.
6. Harmon Electric helps develop our communities through policies accepted by our members.
